E-bikes have been experiencing an astonishing growth rate for years due to their ease of use and significantly lower power requirement. On the one hand, they can be used to cover considerably longer distances and, at the same time, provide an environmentally friendly means of transport for people who would otherwise have to do without a bicycle.

This is a welcome development for cities and municipalities, as it noticeably reduces the burden on local traffic. In order to take this into account and promote it accordingly, more and more charging stations for "e-bikes" are being set up by municipal administrations. Ideally in combination with a locker.

As e-bike charging stations are generally installed outdoors, the 0.8 to 1 mm thick sheet steel is doubly protected against corrosion. Firstly, it is hot-dip galvanised, which in itself would provide sufficient protection for decades.

In addition, the entire body and all flaps are coated with a hard, impact- and scratch-resistant powder coating, which is applied at approx. 180 degrees. The internal dimensions of the lockers are as follows:
Width = 230 mm, height = 324 mm, and depth = 500 mm. The lockers offer plenty of space for batteries, valuables, helmets or handbags. The lower compartment is used to hold the operational e-device modules.

Of course, secure storage also requires the right locks. You have two alternatives to choose from in the basic version. One is the coin deposit lock without a cashier coin box, where the key can be removed as soon as the deposit coin has been inserted. This version is used if the battery is to be charged free of charge. This is because the coin is released again when the lock is used again.

The coin deposit lock with cashier coin box, on the other hand, retains the coin, allowing a simplified billing procedure to be realised if necessary. Electronic access systems are also available as an option.

Each compartment flap has a double-wall reinforcement in the lock area, which provides considerable torsional rigidity and maximum resistance to attempts to break it open.

The outer edge of the flap is sealed against the weather with an IP44 door seal - a hard foam seal that is also used in window construction. In addition to the lock, a latch is installed at the top edge of the flap. This ensures that the flap is immediately locked in place when it is closed and does not spring open again and again before the lock is actuated, due to wind or similar.
